Office Manager/Bookkeeper
Sample Job Description

Job Title: Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform organization's routine bookkeeping work
- Track and invoice accounts receivable
- Track accounts payable and, as appropriate, draft checks for Executive Director's signature
- Assist Executive Director in development and revision of organization and project budgets
- Provide Executive Director with regular financial status reports
- Act as organization's liaison to outside financial service contractors such as a payroll service or auditors
- Serve as organization's liaison to outside administrators of employee benefit programs
- Assist organization staff in interpretation and utilization of employee benefits, for example: health insurance, retirement savings plans
- Oversee work of office interns
- Arrange for purchase and maintenance of office equipment and supplies (in consultation with Executive Director and other staff)

Qualifications and Qualities:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 2-3 years bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit sector
- Solid knowledge of spreadsheet software and (ideally) experience with fund accounting software
- Understanding of (or ability to learn) personnel benefits administration
- Keen attentiveness to detail
- High energy
- Team orientation

The Alliance provides leadership and vision, and delivers services, resources and tools that strengthen community cultural organizations. The Alliance monitors, informs and mobilizes the field on statewide and national issues affecting the arts and assists local arts agencies in building community support and developing effective grassroots public policy.
