Job Title: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Supervises: All administrative staff

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and update organization's strategic plan (with Board of Directors).
- Develop organizational budget, approve expenditures.
- Select, supervise and evaluate staff.
- Oversee program development and delivery.
- Oversee organization fundraising.
- Represent organization at public fora and conferences.
- Report to and enact decisions of Board of Directors.
- Advise in Board of Directors recruitment.

Qualifications and Qualities:
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in relevant field (e.g. Public Administration, Business Administration, Computer Technology)
- 3-5 years nonprofit management experience, either as an Executive Director or the manager of a significant nonprofit program. Previous responsibilities should have included budget development and staff oversight.
- Detailed knowledge of the nonprofit sector.
- Wide-ranging knowledge of information technology, especially as applied in the nonprofit sector.
- Superb oral and written communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- High energy.
- Team-building ability.

The Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations has a 28-year history as New York's primary service association for community based arts and cultural organizations. The Alliance provides leadership and vision, and delivers services, resources and tools that strengthen community cultural organizations. The Alliance monitors, informs and mobilizes the field on statewide and national issues affecting the arts and assists local arts agencies in building community support and developing effective grassroots public policy.
