Sample Job Description

Title: Program Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities and Duties:
The Program Director will plan, implement and monitor all aspect of the Decentralization Program in accordance with the New York State Council on the Arts and this organization's guidelines.

Application Process:
- Prepare DEC application, including budget
- Prepare and submit appropriate interim and final reports to NYSCA
- Maintain liaison with NYSCA staff through conversations and correspondence

Regrant Process:
- Contact organizations, arts groups and individual artists and maintain contact persons to encourage regrant applicants
- Conduct informational meetings and seminars as needed
- Oversee distribution of guidelines and applications to groups including minorities and the underserved as well as the general public
- Guide artists and groups through the application process, providing technical assistance as needed
- Organize the regrant panel and oversee application review by panelists
- Submit panel recommendations to the Board of Directors
- Prepare contracts for recipients

Administrative:
- Supervise auditing of funded projects
- Make regular and appropriate reports to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and NYSCA
- Monitor development of DEC program guidelines in consultation with the Executive Director and Advisory Board
- Create and maintain marketing and publicity procedures to grow community awareness of the DEC Program through travel and attendance at events and artists group meetings
- Attend statewide and regional meetings of Decentralization Coordinators
- Maintain and update year-round structured programs of technical and developmental assistance
