NEW MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Over the past year the Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations been exploring ways to enrich and enhance membership offerings. We have asked you what you need. We have responded to your requests! Through extensive research we've come up with three (3) terrific membership benefits, which will augment and enhance your organizational operation and infrastructure and save you money. Look for more membership benefit opportunities to come!!!

1) JOIN THE ALLIANCE TODAY and RECEIVE MEMBERSHIP IN AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS for 2004

The Alliance has entered into a partnership with Americans for the Arts. For a limited time, joining the Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations, will automatically entitle members to receive "base membership" in American for the Arts for 2004* as well.

Base membership in Americans for the Arts includes: A monthly E-Newsletter, Legislative Alerts, Quarterly ArtsLink, Discounts on publications, Reduced registration fees to conferences and seminars, Access to listservs such as emerging leaders, cultural diversity, grantmaking, and many more, Online technical assistance and Eligibility to participate on leadership councils such as Public Art Network, United Arts Funds and Art in Education Network.

*This offer is open to organizations not currently American for the Arts Members.

2) MEDICAL INSURANCE AND MORE: Just Mention the Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations

We have worked with a number of insurance brokers, statewide, in an effort to develop an acceptable medical insurance program for our members. This is a complicated issue because of the diversity of our field, the geography of the state and the size of groups under the Alliance umbrella and no one broker can cover the state adequately.

After one year of research, we have made an arrangement with the Millennium Business Association of America (M.B.A.A.) which will work with our members to develop individually tailored programs statewide. M.B.A.A is in the business of providing comprehensive, flexible, cost-effective benefits packages within the financial means of artists and small to mid-sized organizations who have been unable to secure medical benefits at affordable rates.

M.B.A.A. is a membership organization which has been in business for 10 years. Their medical benefit plans conform to all federal and state requirements, filings and guidelines. Dollar-for-dollar, the medical plans offered by M.B.A.A., such a Mini-Med Health Care plan for everyday medical emergencies, supplemented by a national, inexpensive plan for catastrophic occurrence is the finest in the industry for its cost and intended audience. They also offer comprehensive medical plans, offered by G.H.I., H.I.P. and other companies, and obtained through one licensed broker/agents in New York State. While many, including the Alliance approached M.B.A.A. for Medical Insurance they also offer other benefits to members of their association. Significant discounts are offered on a wide range of products and services including:

Medical & Hospital Benefits
Mortgage Services
Prescription Drugs
Billing Services
Workman's Compensation
Security Systems
Long Distance Telephone
Property&Casualty Insurance
Website Development
Tax Preparation

Health Insurance
Long-term Care
Financial Planning
Employee Staffing
Legal Referrals
Child & Elder Care
Life&Accident Insurance
Computer Services
Printing
Roadside Assistance

Millennium takes no commissions, percentages or fees from member businesses of the Association. They offer a selection of benefits at affordable rates for a minimal annual membership fee of $95. Contact M.B.A.A. PO Box 412, Clifton Park, NY 12065. (518) 688-1173; info@mbaaplus.com. Make sure to mention that you were referred by THE ALLIANCE OF NEW YORK STATE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS .

3) OUTSOURCE YOUR BOOKS: Web Based Accounting and Bookkeeping Services

This terrific new Alliance associate, Outsource Your Books (OSYB), provides professional bookkeeping and accounting services to emerging, small and medium sized businesses at affordable prices. OSYB offers an innovative, cost-effective way to bring top professionals "in house", without the cost of hiring an employee.

OSYB offers a broad range of services for individuals and business enterprises including personalized traditional hands-on accounting services and web-based record keeping. Routine accounting and booking services, as well as budgeting and cash flow analysis, are available. The fee based menu of defined professional service options provides real time web based access to your records from anywhere/anytime without the costs of upgrading your in house hardware and software. Through this process organizations can reduce overhead while maintaining and often exceeding the level of quality personnel they could afford to hire. Each OSYB client is assigned an Account Service Team to work specifically with them. Each team consists of an Account Executive and a Bookkeeper. The Team identifies issues that may effect organizational operation. The goal is to establish a long-term relationship built on trust.

Contact OSYB, LLC 100 Quentin Roosevelt Boulevard, Suite 516 Garden City, NY 11530. (516) 465-0508; info@osyb.com, and make sure to mention The Alliance of New York State Arts Organizations.

ARTS DAY 2004

In last month's member memo, we re-capped an extraordinary arts day in Albany. One of the highlights of the day was the testimony to the legislature by one of our celebrities and the current star of Golda's Balcony, Tovah Feldshuh. Many in the audience, including the legislators were mesmerized and inspired by her remarks. She has been kind enough to provide them to us. We welcome you to access, the full text of Tovah Feldshuh's speech from Arts Day in Albany, March 2004.
