WHY JOIN?

The Alliance of NYS ARTS Organizations has a 34 year history as New York State's premiere service association for communtiy based arts and cultural organizations. We provide professional training for arts leaders, technical assistance for arts organizations and advocacy leadership to increase public funding and advance public policy in the arts. A dedicated staff provides organizational development services and one-on-one assistance to all members.

NYS ARTS member organizations and individual supporting members are enriched by the continuing opportunity to interact and network with leaders from every region of New York State. Our expanding online advocacy network of over 20,000 participants continues to grow. The value of NYS ARTS as a force in the field is widely respected - resulting in policies, positions and actions that advance the arts state wide.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
NYS ARTS is proud to be at the forefront of the arts industry with lively networking events; groundbreaking web based training programs, an expansive online communications network and an annual Arts Summit.  As New York State’s service association for arts organizations, NYS ARTS services 250 arts and cultural organizations and an online network of 20,000 cultural organizations in all 62 counties of NYS. The Rural Arts Program is a national model and has been training arts leaders in rural communities for 15 years.

LEADERSHIP
On the cutting edge of web-based training in the industry, NYS ARTS led the way nationally in e-learning with a partnership with Cornell University for the E-Institutes for Leadership. Today, webinar and blog training programs enhance leadership and advocacy skills, expand communications, networking opportunities, and marketing for the not for profit executives who lead and manage small and mid-sized organizations. It is an attractive program delivery system because it is anywhere, anytime access to professional training.

ADVOCACY
NYS ARTS has successfully engaged the field to create an effective grass roots advocacy program that includes:Local Advocacy Week spearheaded by our Regional Captains, a Virtual Rally, and Arts Day in Albany, showcasing organizations and performers around the state.  Our Online Advocacy Headquarters sends thousands of emails to federal and state officials, effectively influencing public policy.  Our Executive Director is the State Captain for the Federal Advocacy Campaign, leading the New York State delegation on National Advocacy Day in Washington.
